Acknowledge that you are procrastinating and why. A little insight into your thought process about the habit may steer you in the right direction to apply techniques to remedy the situation.
Focus on doing the task, not avoiding it. This is a big one. Rephrase your internal dialogue from "I need to' to "I choose to".
Be in control of your project; don't let the project be in control of you.
Choose tools and techniques to support your efforts.
Create a to-do list or use a task or time management app to document what needs to be done. This will let you set goals, prioritize and break down large projects into manageable steps.
Identify your most productive part of the day and tackle the most challenging tasks at that time.
Enlist the help of an accountability partner for an extra boost of motivation and reward yourself with each milestone or task completed.
